The University has recently released a free 3D app that takes users on a virtual tour of the Anatomical Museum. The museum and its contents are due to be moved from the Old Medical School in Teviot Place to the Royal College of Surgeons on Nicholson Street. Work on the app was commissioned by Professor Gordon Findlater to make the collection more accessible as it is currently only open to the public on a limited basis.

Once upon a time, in my armchair explorer days, I fancifully imagined my soul being drawn towards deserts. The red sands of Namibia held a particular attraction. Those particular sands remain unknown to me but my longed-for desert experience was finally first realised in India. Spending a night in the Thar turned out to be a bit like deciding on a career path at fifteen and then meandering over time towards an unconsidered option that turns out to be the missing piece.

I booked a flight to Dublin because it was the cheapest destination in Ryanair’s January sale. I thought cheap ticket = cheap holiday. Still my ignorance made for an enjoyable week away.
